Borders and beds
Hand weeding with the root removed works best, followed by a layer of mulch to suppress new growth. Do it before weeds set seed.
Lawns
A healthy, regularly cut lawn crowds out most weeds. Selective lawn treatments can target broadleaf weeds without harming the grass.
Paths, patios and driveways
Weeds in cracks are best treated with a suitable weed killer or removed by hand, then the joints can be re-filled. A regular treatment stops them returning.
Persistent and invasive weeds
Some weeds, such as Japanese knotweed, bindweed and ground elder, need specialist treatment. Do not dig or spread them. Get advice first.
