Lawn Turfing

Fresh turf turns a bare or tired patch into a usable lawn in a day. We prepare the ground, lay the turf tight and neat, and leave you with a lawn that is ready to establish properly, with all waste and old material taken away.

What is included

  • Removal of old, patchy or weed-filled lawns
  • Ground levelling, raking and preparation for a firm, even base
  • Quality turf laid in tight, staggered rows with neat cuts around beds and paths
  • Edges finished cleanly against paths, patios and borders
  • Waste, old turf and soil taken away
  • Aftercare advice so the new lawn roots well

Preparation makes the lawn

Good turf on a poor base will not last. We clear the area, level it and rake it fine before a single roll goes down, so the turf can root into firm, even ground.

Turf or seed?

Turf gives you an instant lawn and works well on slopes and where you need to use the garden quickly. Seed costs less but takes longer and needs more patience. We will tell you which suits your garden and budget.

Looking after new turf

New turf needs regular watering for the first few weeks and should be left alone while it roots. We give you clear aftercare advice, and can take over the cutting once the lawn has settled with our grass cutting service.

Frequently asked questions

How long before I can walk on new turf?

Keep off it for around two to three weeks while it roots. We will tell you when it is ready for light use.

Can you turf a sloping garden?

Yes. Slopes can be turfed with the right preparation and laying technique. Tell us about the slope when you ask for a quote.

Do you remove the old lawn?

Yes. We lift and remove old turf, weeds and rubbish as part of the job if you want us to.

What is the best time of year to lay turf?

Autumn and spring are ideal, as the weather helps the turf root. Turf can be laid at other times with extra watering and care.
